Chancellor praises students’ hard work at Beckett graduations

July 26th, 2017

Chancellor Sir Bob Murray offered his congratulations to graduating Leeds Beckett students at the 2017 Graduation ceremonies.

Speaking at the ceremonies he said: “My role as your Chancellor is an honour and being here in graduation week to see you all succeed is my greatest privilege.

“You made one of the most important decisions of your life in choosing this esteemed University. I am under no illusion as to the amount of time, sacrifice, and sheer commitment demonstrated by you all. You have shown great tenacity. You set a goal and you achieved it.

“Your results are down to hard work, steadfast determination, resilience and often a little luck. It is amazing, the harder you work, the luckier you become. You are entitled to feel very, very proud. You have achieved something truly amazing. You have a degree from this fine institution.  Your degree will unlock doors and a bright future is before you.”

As well as speaking at the ceremonies, Sir Bob also met a number of graduating students including recipients of the Sir Bob Murray scholarships as well as individuals being recognised by the University through the awarding of honorary degrees.

The graduation ceremonies took place at the University’s Headingley Campus between Monday 24 and Friday 28 July, where the honorary award recipients joined around 5,000 students celebrating their graduation from Leeds Beckett this year.
